We are back from a San Diego visit, and are the better for it I think. Even Hoya enjoyed the trip as got to play in the surf on Coronado beach. Our brunch with my family was lovely too, although my poor dear great-uncle teared up when we were leaving, making it all the harder to get out the door – he reminds me so much of my grandpa now. Here’s a pic’:
Now we are back, but M’ made a gruesome discovery this morning — Hoya caught fleas from some of the other dogs! There aren’t fleas in Nevada for whatever reason, so we know it was the visit…and we immediately put flea treatment on this morning and left him outside. Hopefully that should do the trick, although the thought of them in my house makes me nauseous. M’ started vacuuming all the carpets where we think Hoya wandered. (PLEASE tell me they aren’t in my house!)
Unfortunately, as he is a house dog and doesn’t understand why he has been left outside, he has been barking at me through the glass door for three hours. Three going on four. I’m not going to lie, I’m hoping that this is like training a spoiled toddler. I just have to wait him out with sheer will power, and then he’ll stop, right? Once he realizes I won’t give in?
Wish me luck.
Update: he has decided that instead of barking, he will up the ante on the tantrum. He’s now throwing himself against the door. I guess if it hurts bad enough, he will stop.
He will not break my will. lol.

So sweet about your great-uncle. What a dear! Every time we say farewell after visiting my grandparents, Mickey cries. It makes it so tough to leave… You were so thoughtful to include him in your weekend travels.
As for Hoya, good luck! We use Advantix for fleas and ticks here and it works wonder. One treatment and you’ll be good to go! Stand strong. xoxo
